Laser Light Show

Like many cathedrals during the gothic period, Amiens has beautiful stained glass windows. Many people were unable to read because of the scarcity of books, not many people in the position to teach them, and not being able to afford to learn.
As a result of their illiteracy, the common people of the Church couldn't understand the faith. The Church's solution to this predicament was to create beautifully detailed glass windows with pictures dipicting important events in our history.  This way, even though they couldn't read, the people understood the Church by looking at the windows.
At Christmastime and every night in the summer, there is a laser light show illuminating these beautiful windows.  Once the windows are lit up, the glass is vivid and you can easily see the events depicted. Someone also reads an explaination of their importance and history while music is played.
