The Salisbury Cathedral was built from the years 1220-1258.  But those weren't the only years that the cathedral was worked on.

The Cathedral in Old Sarum was in an area that was in poor conditions and polluted air.  Bishop Richard Poore wanted the location to change for this Cathedral, so he requested to the Pope that they change locatioin.  His request was granted in the year 1219 and people immediately started planning to build.

The foundation stone for the Cathedral was laid down in 1220 when construction for the Cathedral began.  The workers worked from the east end of the Cathedral towards the west end.  The Chapel that now holds the tomb of St. Osmond in Salisbury Cathedral was completed in 1225.

Salisbury Cathedral was on its way to being completed.  The transepts, nave, and choir were all completed in the year 1258, which was also the year when Salisbury Cathedral was consecrated.  The main construction for the Cathedral was finished in 1258.  Other additions were later added on.
