Reims was built in 13th century France.  It was built on a already important church in France that burned to the ground. It is said that the Bishops were secretly delighted because they could build a bigger better church, a cathedral. The cathedral was built in the Gothic style and was designed to be bigger than it is now because of another fire the second tower of the facade was never totally completed. the roof was the highest in that part of southern Europe. A good 5 yards taller Chartres. Eventually this was were all of the French kings took comunion.
