Salisbury Cathedral has some of the most unique and largest exterior features in all of Britain.  It contains the largest cloisters and the highest spire in Britain, and the oldest-working clock in Europe.

The spire on top of Salisbury Cathedral is 404 feet high and weighs 6500 tons.  The spire added a lot of weight to the cathedral to where some of the spire is actually leaning a little!  But with the help of its flying buttresses, the cathedral has been able to stay up.  Visitors that come to get a tour of the Cathedral can actually walk up a flight of stairs with about 330 steps to the top of the spire.

The cloisters of Salisbury are the largest in Britain.  A cloister is a quiet, covered walkway outside that often leads to a courtyard.  The cloister in Salisbury is 190 feet.  During the Civil War in the 17th Century, these cloisters were used as a prison.

The oldest working clock in Europe is located in the nave.  It has been working since 1386 and has ticked more than 5 million times.  On the clock, there are no hands because back then, it would chime every hour to tell the bishops when mass would be.
