When Bishop Evrard of Amiens, France saw that Reims was building a cathedral, he decided Amiens needed one too. Construction first started in 1137, in a Romanesque format. The cathedral was consecrated in 1152. Later, it burned in a fire.

Construction started on a new cathedral in 1220, and the cathedral was completed in 1269. The two towers were added in 1366 and 1402.

Throughout the years, Amiens suffered some damage. It was partially damaged by the explosion of a powder mill in 1675, and was affected by two hurricanes; one in 1627 and one in 1705. Thankfully, Amiens has survived this damage and we can enjoy it's beauty today.
