La Sagrada Familia

In Barcelona, Madrid, one of the main tourist attractions is La Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882, and is predicted to be finished in several decades . The architect, Antoní Gaudí, started working on the cathedral when he was 31 years old and dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the cathedral, the last 15 years of his life spent exclusively to this project alone. When Antoní Gaudí died tragically three days after a tram accident in 1926, he was mourned throughtout Barcelona and was buried in the Sagrada Familia crypt. Now, the construction is under guidance of Jordi Bonet i Armengol. Gaudí was a deeply religious man and designed la Sagrada Familia to express his love for Christ, using the elements of nature for ideas.
